Do You Care About the Top 25 Cigars List? Should It Even Matter? – Last Day to WIN Some Great Swag Here!

It’s a new year and that means it’s time for you to pick out some outrageously good smokes to celebrate with. Now you can choose from your absolute favorites, or you can pick from the Top 25 List. But the problem is that there’s like 50 different Top 25 Lists and every single one of them is different.

Of course, Cigar Aficionado is the one everyone goes by and this year they chose the Aging Room Nicaragua as their Number One Cigar of the Year. I personally think it’s an excellent cigar, but #1? I’m really not sure what even makes a cigar number one of the year. I mean they have the Padron Serie 1926 #6 as the # 2 choice or the Oliva Serie V Lancero as #6 which are both tremendous smokes! The Enclave Broadleaf is #19 and the Alec Bradley Project 40 is #24. Guys, if you really want to know, they are ALL tremendous cigars on their list with many other greats not even named (in my humble opinion)..

International cigar magazine, Cigar Journal has their #1 pick, the AJ Fernandez Bellas Artes Maduro Robusto as their top pick with the Winston Churchill le 2019 the Traveller as #2 and the Alec Bradley Blind Faith Gordo as #3. Tobacco Business has their #1 pick Drew Estate’s Florida Sun Grown as their #1, Davidoff 50 Years Limited Edition Diademas Finas as their #2 (I wish that name was like 7 words longer) and Big Papi by slugger David Ortiz as #3. And yeah, there are many other Top Lists out there.

Now what about cigars from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust? While everyone of them is utterly fantastic, they haven’t been named to CA’s list – ever. Owner Steve Saka recently wrote on Facebook that he and Marvin Shanken REALLY do not like each other, therefore their cigars DO NOT make their list. Hmmmm. Is this fair? Is it even true? Hell, I don’t really know, but it’s worth a mention because Saka’s cigars have made it to other lists like Dunbarton Mi Querida Triqui Traca is the #1 Cigar of the Year pick on JR’s site and Dunbarton’s Sin Compromiso is #1 in irobusto’s community rakings. Interesting? If you say so.

You know what? In a time when the FDA is coming down on cigars and smoking laws are becoming more outrageous by the day, the industry is seeing growth. New brands continue to arise and the quality of cigars just keeps getting better and better. I think that cigars in general are just so loved by so many that the more they try to take it away, the more it grows and more powerful it becomes. Human nature is an amazing thing, ain’t it?

So, the question remains, does anybody’s Top 25 List actually mean anything? Well, CA’s has the Aging Room sold out in just about every store everywhere, so yeah, it sure means something. And I think that every other Top List sells cigars as well. The real answer is that it means something to some smokers and absolutely nothing to others. Does that help? Nope, I didn’t think so. Now enjoy the cigars you love in this awesome year of 2020!
